As recorded on the 2009 release “Gospel Collection”, this arrangement of Amazing Grace is a laid back triplet swing chart which features a vocalist with big band. A rubato first verse is followed by a triplet swing groove for the remainder of the chart. With only a couple of high notes in the lead trumpet and trombone parts, this piece would suit the intermediate to advancing big band. There is an improvised solo for lead trumpet and the vocalist is encouraged to improvise and embellish the melody throughout.
